Robert "Bob"
Shaw the most underrated Head Coach in Niles History for he certainly can stand side by side with Tony Mason. He spent 2 tenures
at Niles McKinley 1965-1966 then 1969 to 1972. He accumulated a record of 46 wins, 10 losses and 4 ties and his 1966 combine
10-0 the last undefeated Dragon Team. The Tiger killer Bob
Shaw was the most successful Niles Head Coach against the mighty Massillon Tigers.

Charlie Kines the Team Captain of the State Championship 1961 Red Dragons a stalwart on the best offensive
and defensive lines in Niles History.

Frank Mike ‘Lux’ Lukz a bruising
FB for Niles
in 1927 gained All Trumbull County
honors First Team as a tackle in 1926. He took the FB spot for Niles in 1927,
and earned First Team, Trumbull County
honors and landed as the team Captain. He was also the team Captain for Niles
that season and played college ball at Ohio State.

Rick
Gales in 1969 ran wild for 1,266-yards for a 6.1 per carry average. He earned All American Conference First Team (Safety) 1968, Team Co-Captain 1969, All American Conference First Team (RB) 1969, All NEO District First Team AP (HB) 1969, NEO District Co-Player of the Year 1969, All Ohio First Team AP (HB) 1969, All Ohio First Team UPI (HB) 1969, Ohio High School Back of the Year 1969, Sunkiss High School All American

Niles Co-Captain, All American Conference First Team (LB), All-Northeast Ohio District First Team (LB), All Ohio UPI & AP, North
South All Star Game. At Purdue made the varsity
as a freshman at LB, led Purdue for two year in tackles and interceptions
and second in the Big Ten in interceptions in 1975. In 1974, an
interception against # 1 Notre Dame helped upset the then #1 team in the country at South Bend.
Tony Mason
the best Head Coach in Niles History. Came to Niles from Brookfield where he was successful, under his guidance took Niles
to the height of High School football in Ohio, and recognized
nationally.
From 1958
to 1963, he attained a record of 47 wins, 3 losses and 6 ties, and 2 State Championships in 1961 and 1963.

three TD passes from Bill Gales VS Warren Harding, November 15, 1963 in Warren.

Keith Piper started at the center
position for Niles McKinley in 1938 and 1939. He also anchored the defensive line with Martin Brutz. The 1939 Niles defense allowed only 34-points
and not an opponent scored in the first, second or third quarter. Keith Piper intercepted a pass and ran it back 30-yards
for a score against Struthers a game that ended 6-6.
Keith Piper earned All Trumbull
County Second Team at Center in 1938 and in 1939 All Trumbull County First Team at Center and earned a spot on the Girard's
All Opponent Team.
He attended Baldwin-Wallace for
two years then four years of military service. After WWII, he returned to Baldwin-Wallace and started at Center in 1946 and
47.
In
1954, he became the Head Coach at Denison University holding that position until 1992. He accumulated a record of 200 wins,
142 losses and 19 ties.
Born
in Niles October 10, 1921, and brought up on Hyde he never forgot his days in Niles and held close the Niles McKinley Red Dragons.
Keith
Piper died December 9, 1997 at age
76.
